Snow Hydrology Research and Applications: Improving our understanding of cold season processes is very important to furthering our ability to know and predict better the water cycle, both locally and globally. Some of our research goals focus on integrating ground, airborne and satellite observations with the latest land surface models (LSMs) and snow-based models with different techniques like data assimilation within the Land Information System (LIS) software environment. Also, we are working to improve the model using the latest satellite information and ground truth data. Some of our other Center goals include improving and adding to existing ground-based networks that are in place to study cold season processes, like the Cold Land Processes Experiment (CLPX).The purpose of some of these research goals is to serve not only the snow hydrology community but also water resource and other hydrological applications communities.
